Planet Transit Today in Bengaluru
What Is a Planet Transit (Gochar)?
Every graha in the table below sits in the same rashi whether you are in Bengaluru or anywhere else. The parts worked out just for Bengaluru are the rising lagna and today's sunrise and sunset, using its coordinates (12.97°, 77.59°).
Your kundli freezes the sky at the minute you were born; gochar is the sky that keeps moving after that. When a jyotishi says "Shani is entering Meen" or "Guru has gone into Mithun", they are talking about gochar, and they read it by laying today's grahas over your birth chart.
We compute the table below on the fly from Swiss Ephemeris data and apply the Lahiri ayanamsa, which the Indian Calendar Reform Committee chose for the national panchang. Your kundli on this site uses the identical setting, so degrees here and there line up.
Treat this page as the common sky for the day. To know which bhava each graha is crossing for you, whether Sade Sati is on, or how strong today's Tara Bala is, we need your own birth details.
Location only matters for the rising sign and the day's sunrise and sunset. The lagna is the rashi coming up over the eastern horizon where you stand, and it cycles through all twelve signs in about a day, spending around two hours in each. That is why Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai can show different lagnas at the same clock time even though every graha is in the same rashi. Pick your city below to see its lagna, sunrise and sunset.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a planet transit (Gochar)?
- Gochar means the current movement of the grahas through the rashis. Your birth chart is fixed, but gochar changes every day, and astrologers judge its effect by counting where each graha falls from your Moon sign and lagna.
- Does gochar differ from city to city?
- No for the grahas, yes for the lagna. Planet positions are measured from the Earth's centre, so Delhi and Bengaluru, or even Delhi and London, share the same rashi and degree for each graha at any instant. The rising sign and sunrise/sunset are tied to your horizon, so those shift with latitude and longitude.
- How often do planets change signs?
- Chandra is the quickest, moving to the next rashi in a little over two days. Surya spends a month in each sign, which is how each Sankranti is marked. Budh and Shukra usually stay three to five weeks, Mangal about six weeks, Guru about a year, Rahu-Ketu about eighteen months and Shani around two and a half years, so a Shani or Guru sign change is big news in every panchang.
- Which ayanamsa is used for these transit positions?
- Lahiri, also called Chitrapaksha, the ayanamsa used in the Indian government's Rashtriya Panchang. We apply it to Swiss Ephemeris positions here and in your kundli, so the two never disagree.
