What Moon's transit means
The Moon (Chandra) rules the mind, emotions, the mother, comfort and the public. Because it moves so fast, it sets the mood of each day.
The Moon spends about two and a quarter days in each sign and goes round the whole zodiac in about 27 days. It never turns retrograde.
Daily rashifal is read from the Moon's transit. The day the Moon passes through the 8th sign from your own Moon sign (Chandrashtama) is traditionally kept free of new beginnings.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the Moon's sign today the same as my Moon sign?
- No. Your Moon sign (rashi) is where the Moon was when you were born and never changes. Today's Moon sign is where it is now, and it changes every two to three days.
- Where can I see today's nakshatra and tithi?
- Today's panchang shows the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana for the day, along with Rahu Kaal and sunrise times.
- Which ayanamsa is used for these positions?
- All positions use the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, calculated with the Swiss Ephemeris, the same standard used for your janam kundli.
